The Nationalist Party has moved ahead of the Labour Party for the first time since the 2013 general election, according to a survey in the Malta Independent.
The survey shows the PN with a narrow 0.04% lead, around 1,500 votes, over Labour. This is a far cry from the heady days when Labour enjoyed a massive 40,000 lead and may well serve as a wake up call for the government.
With a general election still four years away, Prime Minister Robert Abela has time to regroup and regain lost ground. On the other hand, in politics, votes can slip away as quickly as they were gained.
