Prime Minister Robert Abela had a meeting with the Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres, when he continued with his commitments in the building of the United Nations.
After addressing the General Assembly of the United Nations, the Prime Minister discussed with António Guterres themes of common interest to both sides. Malta and the United Nations have many common positions and the meeting was one that had themes on the agenda that our country has been talking about for a long time.
Secretary General António Guterres congratulated Malta for its role in the Security Council of the United Nations, particularly during the Presidency period. Another topic on the agenda was Libya. The Prime Minister explained the need for Libya to be helped not only because of what happened recently with cyclone Daniel, but also because of the need for a stable Libya according to the wishes of the Libyan people.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne and the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg.
