Maltese rescue team in grim search for bodies on Libyan beach

A Maltese rescue team found hundreds of dead bodies on a beach in the flood-stricken Libyan city of Derna on Friday, the Malta Civil Protection Department said on Saturday.

Malta sent a rescue team in response to Storm Daniel which struck Libya last week. The coastal city of Derba was the worst affected with around half the city destroyed as dams burst and destroyed many parts of the city. Officials fear the number of dead, already over 10,000, will rise even higher.
