Dar San Júzepp in Għajnsielem will start operating next March

During a visit he made to Dar San Ļużepp in Għajnsielem, the Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri announced that this home for the elderly will start operating next March as it is planned that within six months the works will be done all of finishings, M&Es and furnishing. In March 2024, Dar San Žužepp, built on more than three acres, will be welcoming its first 120 elderly residents.

“The need for Gozo to have an adequate home for the elderly that meets the increasing demand of the elderly has long been felt. Several factors led to the project taking longer than expected to complete, including the procurement process and appeals that were made including in the Courts of Malta. Therefore, we reached an agreement with the Curia so that, due to the unforeseen delays in appeals and legal actions in the last three years, the existing agreement with the Curia was extended by another three years, with the government will be exempt from additional payments,” said Minister Camilleri.

St. Joseph’s House will consist of 120 beds in all en-suite rooms spread over four levels, with views of the countryside and the sea. The house will be one of the highest standards and accessible and will consist of large areas of social spaces as well as green spaces outside.

Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that he looks forward to not only seeing this house completed but also being enjoyed by the elderly residents of the Gozitan island.
