In a visit to the nursery and the football club of Dingli Swallows, Prime Minister Robert Abela spoke with some of the children and young people who are trained by this club, who had the opportunity to not only put forward their ideas for the locality they live in but also those about the sports sector.
The Prime Minister stated with them that they have an important part in designing the localities they want and that with their activism they are continuing to strengthen the communities. Which communities will this Government continue to invest in to strengthen them and therefore encouraged them to continue to put forward more ideas.
He also praised the sense of community that this sports club is creating in Đad-Dingli, with the children and young people at the centre, and with the work of the Committee, the coaches and the parents. He pointed out that with their dedication, sports organizations like these are not only keeping the community active but are offering values, education and unique experiences to our children and young people beyond the school bench.
The Prime Minister also referred to the investment that the Government is making in children and young people, with the aim of guaranteeing success for them, for society and for our country. The investment in the sports sector is an example of this and shows the Government’s commitment to continue investing in their talents. With sports facilities accessible to everyone, which make a difference in the lives of sports persons, from those doing basic training to professional ones.
The Government is working to have sports facilities of international standards that will strengthen the Maltese sports industry. Prime Minister Abela concluded that for this Government it remains a priority that Maltese and Gozitan families, while having the best tools for their children to succeed in school, will continue to give the same importance to the participation of – children and young people in sports, art and culture.
