Numbers of fines for traffic offenses on the rise

The number of fines being issued for traffic offenses has risen in the past eight months with nearly 6,000 drivers penalized for using mobile phones while driving, according to figures released by LESA’s Chief Executive, Svetlick Flores.

2,000 were fined for not wearing seat-belts.

New regulations affecting Y-plate vehicles imposed limitations on their use and severs penalties for failing to adhere to the new regulations. According to Mr Flores, some 97 drivers received fines totaling €48,500.
