An off-duty police officer chased and detained a motorcyclist involved in a hit and run in Fgura.
The motorcyclist hit a female pedestrian and failed to stop. The incident was witnessed by the off-duty officer who then gave chase on his own motorbike.
Eventually, after repeated calls for the fleeing biker to stop, the officer managed to grab him by his shirt and hold him until back-up arrived.
The hit and run incident happened in Triq Ħaż-Żabbar at around 10:45am on Thursday.
The injured woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where her condition remains unknown.
