Investment of €1.1 million for a completely renovated health center in Birkirkara

 The Birkirkara Health Center has reopened its doors after completing a renovation and modernization project so that in addition to offering a nicer and more modern environment for clients, more primary care services are offered to the residents of ‘ Birkirkara and its surroundings.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne visited the project which was made with an investment of €1.1 million from the National Social Development Fund (NDSF) and which will benefit the 35,000 residents from the waters of Birkirkara, Balzan, Iklin and Lija. This health center will offer twenty-one primary care services, of which six are completely new to this center, which include, a family doctor clinic by appointment, an increase in the services of eye care (optometry and orthotics), baby clinic, social worker, dietician and nutritionist services.

“The continuous investment in primary health services aims to improve the standard of living of the Maltese and Gozitan people because with more services in the community there is the possibility that those who take more care of their health , with top level care and free of charge,” said the deputy prime minister during the inauguration. He thanked the Primary Health Care workers, led by CEO Roseanne Camilleri, for the work being done in various localities to renovate the existing clinics or to open clinics in new areas.

The Deputy Prime Minister Fearne mentioned that in the coming months a number of clinics are expected to be inaugurated in the community around Malta and Gozo which are in an advanced stage of works, among others in Qala, Siġġiewi, Birżebbuġa and in Had-Dingli.
