A new Collective Agreement was signed between EVOS Maltaand the Maritime and Aviation Section of the General Workers Union. A Collective Agreement that will see improvements in workers allowances and working conditions among other
benefits.
The Secretary of the Maritime and Aviation Section Sandro Vella thanked everyone for the work done to achieve this negotiation in this international energy storage company that offers excellent services and competitive advantages to its
customers. He also mentioned how this Collective Agreement will greatly help the workers to have a more balanced life – work life balance, and at the same time the company will have peace of mind that it will still offer the best service.
“I would like to thank the committee, headed by Zach Grixti, that took care of the internal discussions, thanks to which many details were clarified. I thank also the company EVOS Malta for all the work and managing, which in such a short time
succeeded to take over the helm of the former company Oil Tanking Malta. In times where there is a great lack of workers in this specific market, the company feels more reassured in signing up an agreement for it’s experienced workers. In fact both groups agreed to continue discussing to further strengthen
all this”, said Sandro Vella.
He reiterated that he is very happy because with great wisdom they are seeing sustainable progress in a world of work that is always changing, and this is a continuous challenge that must be addressed wisely and with serious and continuous work, while he thanked the Secretary of the GWU Youth Section,
Jurgen Azzopardi, who is giving a helping hand in this Section and the Committee which is formed by Zach Grixti as Shop Steward and Joseph John Zammit, Jason Saliba and Michael Tabone as members.
Sonke Stein, CEO of EVOS Malta emphasized that with the signing of this Collective Agreement for the operating employees of EVOS Malta, the Employees and the GWU are enjoying a good and constructive industrial relationship, which has contributed for a beneficial outcome for all parties involved.
The Collective Agreement for the year 2023-24 was signed by the Secretary for the Maritime and Aviation Section Sandro Vella, shop steward Zach Grixti, the Managing Director of EVOS Malta Sonke Stein, with the collaboration of the HR
Manager Gayle Camilleri and by the Operations Manager Jeffrey Micallef.
