Janet Richard set a new national 400m record when finishing second in her heat at the European Team Championships in Silesia, Poland.
Her time of 52.37 was the first time she went under 53 seconds and took just over a full second off her previous time of 53.49.
Ireland’s Sharlene Mawdsley won the heat in 51.55.
After 12 events of 37 scheduled, Malta is currently lying in fourth place, behind Austria, Ireland and Israel.
