The Maltese National Agency responsible for the implementation of the Erasmus+ Program and the European Solidarity Corps, as well as the management of Europass, Eurodesk and the National VET Teams (EUPA), and the Union United Workers (UĦM) have signed a new collective agreement for the workers of the same agency which will see a strengthening of their working conditions on the previous agreement.
The Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Chris Bonett, who was present at the signing, thanked both parties that after a period of negotiations and discussions this new collective agreement was reached. “The work for the agency in recent years has increased substantially and the work carried out by the workers within it is fundamental so that Malta can make the best use of the funds provided by the European Union. Therefore, it is fair that the work being carried out is rewarded while the quality of life of the workers is protected,” reiterated Parliamentary Secretary Bonett.
The CEO of EUPA Joe Schembri also spoke, where he said how through this agreement the agency will continue to build on the competences of its employees and attract more organizations to the programs it is responsible for. “The agency remains committed to absorbing all the funds entrusted to it through quality projects that all Maltese and Gozitan citizens enjoy,” stated the CEO.
With this collective agreement, EUPA workers will be benefiting from an increase in salary, disturbance allowance, introduction of a performance bonus, and a number of measures in favor of the family, among others. The managers as well as the officers will also benefit from a responsibility allowance. Salary arrears will be granted from 1 January 2021 while the other benefits will come into force from today, 13 June 2023.
