West Ham’s historic Europa Conference League Final victory

West Han created their own piece of history in winning the Europa Conference League Final against Fiorentina in Prague.

Their first European trophy since 1965 and the days of Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters.

June 7, 2023 and new heroes emerged.

Benrahma put them in front with a 62 minute penalty. The stadium, the Hammers side anyway, erupted as fans celebrated. But only for a few moments as Bonaventura’s sublime touch in the box leveled the score for Fiorentina.

With the seconds ticking by, a moment of pure joy for West Ham and their supporters. Lucas Paqueta slid a superb pass through the Fiorentina defence for Jarrod Bowen to run on to and fire past the onrushing Pietro Terracciano.

For manager David Moyes, unforgettable. Finally a trophy. He has waited a lifetime for such a moment. His winning medal, that went around the neck of his father who was among the thousands of West Ham Supporters.

Has ever winning goal been celebrated with such joy and passion.

It had taken West Ham 58 years for such a night. Now a new generation can celebrate.
