Work continues to strengthen overseas collaboration in the research and innovation sector

In China, the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti held several meetings with various Chinese entities and associations linked to science and technology with the aim of continuing to grow the collaboration between both countries in the field of research and innovation.
Among the various meetings, the Parliamentary Secretary met with the Vice Minister for Science and Technology of China Zhang Guangjun, with the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Science Zhang Yaping, with the Director of the National Administration of the Chinese Space Agency Zhang Keijan, with the President of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Professor Dou Xiankang, and with the Director of the International Affairs Department of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology Luo.
Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti reiterated that these meetings are important so that Malta continues to strengthen collaboration with other countries in the field of research and innovation. The agreement that was signed between Malta and China a few years ago was also discussed, where the Sino-Malta scheme was created to finance research projects between researchers from the two countries, in collaboration between the Maltese Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and the Ministry of Science and Technology in China.
“We want to build on this existing agreement in order to continue to strengthen the relations we have with China, which is a very important country in the research sector. The Government committed to continue investing in research and innovation in our country even through international collaborations like this one, with the aim of local businesses being competitive not only locally but also in the international market,” reiterated the Parliamentary Secretary Azzopardi Tanti.
