Support for Malta’s athletes at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin

 Dr. Lydia Abela, wife of the Prime Minister and the President of Special Olympics Malta, welcomed the 27 athletes who will participate in the Special Olympics World Games which will take place between the 17th and 25th of next June , in Berlin.
In an address she made to the representatives of our country in this sporting event for athletes with disabilities from around 170 countries, Dr Abela defined these Games in the German capital as a celebration of inclusiveness. In the presence also of the families of the Maltese athletes, the President of Special Olympics Malta gave support and courage to the Maltese participants and reminded them how they have every opportunity to reach their potential. She said that as Special Olympics Malta, strong work was done to ensure that the athletes have good facilities and that they are prepared in a good way.
Lydia Abela pointed to the Invitational Games of Special Olympics that were held in our country a year ago and recalled not only the successes achieved by the athletes of Special Olympics Malta but also the sports festival that our country managed to welcome within it so that our country he was truly a model of inclusion. While she thanked all the people who work in Special Olympics Malta together with the parents of the athletes, whom she described as the main driving force, she had a particular message for the athletes.
“You are our athletes who will be representing the white and the red and we are proud of you all. I wish you every success,” said Dr. Abela.
In the same activity, the National Director of Special Olympics Malta, Anna Calleja spoke who pointed out the work of the coaches who work closely with the athletes in preparation for these games. Anna Calleja claimed that Special Olympics Malta works hard for everyone to show the best of their abilities. Also present was the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima.
