The first IBD Clinic in San Vincenzo de Paul as part of an extension of 17 specialized clinics

 During a news conference, the Minister for Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela together with the management of the San Vincenzo de Paul Hospital announced an extension of Out Patients services for geriatric care in the same hospital, which will lead to 17 specialized clinics.
This extension is being done after the completion of the Rużar Briffa complex project, with a total investment of €14 million. Among the specialized clinics that are part of this extension will be that of intestinal inflammation. This condition is known as IBD.
Minister Abela explained that in Malta we have more than 2,500 people who have this condition. He reiterated that; “Through this extension we will have a specialized clinic in a multi-disciplinary environment with gastroenterologists, dieticians and psychologists to provide holistic support to patients.”
Minister Abela concluded by saying; “The more the population is growing, the more the need is felt for more medical services that specialize in different conditions and things. Work is also currently underway to set up a specialized endoscopy center for the elderly to continue working to improve the quality of life of the elderly.”
