Hand-in-Hand Inclusion does not mean only knowledge, but means that in a tangible way every person has the opportunity to use the abilities to flourish and reach their aspirations. This was the message of Prime Minister Robert Abela during a visit he made to the school for children with autism Hand-in-Hand in Victoria accompanied by his wife Dr. Lydia Abela.

This school offers a therapy program based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children with autism, which is aimed at giving these children not only social skills but also skills with which they can live independently. The Government is funding this specialized service that this school is offering.

The Prime Minister praised the work being carried out by the management and staff of this school which is investing with dedication in the students’ abilities in a suitable environment. From a successful pilot project, to a school that, according to the parents, is making a difference in the quality of life of their children.

Principles that this Government believes in and that it is reflecting in work including the strengthening of the carer’s grant and the investment in personal assistants so that these people can live in society in a more independent way. This while the Government is also introducing more specific schemes and services including the “Sensability” scheme which offers financial assistance so that families can create a sensory room in their home. Measures designed from the experiences of families who will continue to find investment and support from the Government.
