In his speech the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality Byron Camilleri stressed to the new members of the Police Force that the new uniform means the trust that the – people are lending them. “We are entering the body at a time when reforms are underway so that the Body can meet modern challenges. Reforms and changes that led to a reduction in the crime rate and an increase in people’s confidence. The oath you took also means a great responsibility that you will carry and translate it with your actions. It seems that in everything you do and in the way you act you want first and foremost to secure the common good. This is why the government is giving the Corps the tools to offer you more training in various fields,” said Minister Camilleri.
.The Minister went on to say that the oath of office is just the beginning of their career in a body where it is getting closer and closer to the citizen in the community to offer a safer environment, to be shoulder to shoulder with the citizen and be of protection for those who are vulnerable.
Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà, while congratulating the new Police, appealed to them to recognize from now on that they are being given an identity and that 24 hours a day they will be worthy of the uniform they were given privilege to wear today for the first time. “Be as proud as I am to wear this uniform so that with your work you can fulfill the mission of the Corps which is to provide a professional and trusted service to ensure a safe country in partnership with the community,” concluded Commissioner Gafà.
