Active Aging and Care in the Community has announced an investment of more than half a million euros (€511,200) in Dar il-Mistrieħ in Floriana, one of the homes for the elderly in the heart of the community.
The investment will involve beautifying the facilities and continue to improve accessibility in this house, among others. In a news conference with the theme ‘Let’s make it happen together’ addressed by the Minister for Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela, it was explained how the need for investment in favor of new facilities for this home that accommodates around 45 had been felt for a long time resident In fact, it was explained how the Government has already invested around €190,000 where with this money the roofs on the hairdressing salon were repaired, the access to the garden was increased and the air conditioning was done in the rooms and the -chapel in this house among others.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela supported the importance of this investment in favor of the elderly who reside or will still reside there in the future. The Minister pointed out how this house is one of the four residential houses of the Government and that although it is a small one it is much sought after by the elderly who live in the City and in Floriana. He also explained that this investment was necessary as the need to protect the structure of the house while maintaining a high level of standards began to be felt. This is apart from making an investment in order to have multidisciplinary clinics so that the residents can be given holistic treatment in this very house.
Minister Abela stated that the resident should always come first by offering him security and a high quality of service.
CEO of AACC Renzo De Gabriele explained how Active Aging and Care in the Community is continuing the work so that the homes managed by the Government have the best services and infrastructure in order to provide better care for the residents who live in them.
