Maintaining standards in nursing homes is a priority

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited The Imperial nursing home in Sliema, a project with an investment of €30 million and which was opened two years ago by St. George’s Care Ltd.
Today this company, which owns another home for the elderly, employs around 250 workers and offers high standards and genuine care for the elderly. During his visit, the Prime Minister was able to note a number of the highest quality services provided in this home while he met the workers and elderly residents.
The management of the house explained how the house offers different facilities in a complex that includes 6,000 square meters of communal areas. In the house there is a swimming pool, gym, lounges, a room for activities and a library among others, to serve the needs of the residents who continue to feel part of a community.
Prime Minister Robert Abela thanked the management of The Imperial and also the service workers who are giving to the elderly. He stressed that the government continues to support this type of investment that maintains even the highest standards in homes for the elderly. He pointed out that a house like The Imperial is also addressing specific needs for the elderly as this house with 176 rooms, has a section for people with dementia, who are also being given a dignified service with which they continue to have a quality of life better.
The Prime Minister also claimed the importance of active aging not only among the elderly who live in cities and villages but also those residing in homes for the elderly.
Chairman of St. George’s Care Ltd Edward Vella, thanked the Prime Minister Robert Abela for visiting the home and pointed out that the company strives to give the best care, love and quality of life to the residents. He said that it is very satisfying for him and the management of the home, to see the happy residents living life to the fullest.
