In the area of Fiddien in Rabat, Prime Minister Robert Abela met with a number of farmers who were working their crops from early in the morning.
The Prime Minister talked about how when you go down to the people at the workplace you understand their needs and even what changes should be implemented to improve their conditions. In this context, the Prime Minister also noted how the financial aid offered by the Government over the years is providing practical support for farmers.
This is among other reforms in the sector, which were carried out in the first year of this legislature, including the reform in the laws of midwives.
Wigi Sant, a farmer with more than 50 years of experience, was accompanied by his family and gave a detailed explanation of the work they do every day. He claimed that the help being given by the Government to the farmers is of great importance, while he acknowledged that even in the background of a pandemic and international challenges due to the war in Ukraine, the Government continued to invest in this sector.
Present for the visit was the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo.
