Sirens came from two goals down to hold Valletta in a 3-3 draw at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Wednesday.
The result leaves Valletta in the eighth place, alongside Gudja, on 24 points and two behind rivals Floriana but staying five ahead of tenth-placed Sirens.
Valletta got off to a perfect start, Shaun Dimech’s strike inside three minutes beating Grech in the Sirens goal.
The game looked done and dusted when Kilian Bevis added a second just before the break.
A penalty for Sirens just after the restart gave them hope, Paulo Vyctor firing home from the spot.
Valletta struck again just before the hour mark through Federico Falcone to again seem to put the game to bed but Sirens were not finished.
Kei Sano scored with twenty minutes remaining to set up a tense finish and with just one minute left, Sirens got a second penalty after Christian Guaci handled inside the box. Vyctor stepped up to the mark and slotted the ball past Cain to clinch what had seemed an unlikely point for Sirens.
