43 band clubs have been awarded funds that amount to more than €100,000, through the Music Tuition scheme.
This scheme was launched at the end of last year by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ in collaboration with Għaqda Każini tal-Banda, and through this scheme various band clubs are awarded funds to teach musical instruments to youths. This was announced by Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti.
Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti spoke on the importance of entities, such as Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, in issuing such schemes to help voluntary organisations in Malta and Gozo. He stated that band clubs have an important role in society and through this scheme they will offer assistance to young people who wish to be nurtured in the arts.
The Parliamentary Secretary concluded by stating that Government is committed in continuing to support people who do voluntary work to keep alive our traditions, like band clubs, and thanked the volunteers for their work and service they are giving to Maltese and Gozitan society.
The CEO of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, Miriam Theuma, spoke on the importance that more band clubs work with young people and stated that the Agency will continue working towards having more young people involved in various organisations within their locality. “These schemes allow us to increase collaboration, not only with youth organisations but also with entities and associations such as the Għaqda Każini tal-Banda,” stated Ms Theuma.
President of the Għaqda Każini tal-Banda, Dr Noel Camilleri stated that through Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, several band clubs have managed to obtain the necessary funds to continue with their beneficial work.
