A 30-year-old woman from Turkey died after being hit by a car in Msida, police said.
According to police the woman was hit by the car which was being driven by a man from Lija. The car crashed into the forefront of a petrol station before crashing into the front of a food outlet.
The incident happened in Testaferrata Street, Msida, at 1o’clock on Wednesday morning.
It is alleged the driver then got out of the car and became aggressive to passersby who were trying to help the injured woman.
When police arrived the suspect driver began throwing stones at them, forcing officers to use tasers to subdue the man.
Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to hospital but she died shortly afterwards.
The suspect driver was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for mental and medical assessment.
