PM Liz Truss could be gone within a week says fromer Bank of England ecomonist

Hours after the sacking of her Chancellor, the prime minister herself is strugglng to survive.

Under seige Liz Truss could be gone herself within a week according to former Bank of England ecomomist Professor Danny Blanchflower who told Sky News: “There are all these things about ‘does she have the shelf life of a lettuce?’ and I think the answer is probably not.”

Professor Blanchflower said he cannot see her staying in office much longer with her recently announced mini-budget in tatters and after she announced another u-turn this afternoon. Truss confirmed the government would raise corporation tax next April to 25% from 19%, despite pledging not to do so in the mini-budget.

It is said a week in politics is a long time. For Liz Truss it may be a lifetime.
