17 Inspectors and 64 Police Sergeants are appointed

In a ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Floriana on Monday, 81 officers were
presented with certificates of appointment in the rank of Inspectors and Sergeants.

A total of 16 men and women were appointed as inspectors. Four of the Inspectors were new members of the Police Force. After this appointment, the Inspectors will
attend a two-year course at the University of Malta.

49 men and 15 women were appointed as Police Sergeants.
The ceremony was chaired by the Minister for the Interior, Security, Reforms and Equality, Byron Camilleri and the Commissioner of Police, Angelo Gafà.

In his message to the new Sergeants, Minister Camilleri said that through the change that is being made in the Police Force, the Corps is being more effective with the public. This can be seen in the increase of public trust in the police, the largest increase since statistics began to be collected.
“I will never tolerate the few spoiling the good work of the many. In you I see people who every day they work to protect society. See that in what you do you keep all this
in your mind and in your heart,” concluded Minister Camilleri.
