Second edition of Malta Enterprise Start-up Festival launched

The Start-up Festival is being launched for the second consecutive year, welcoming local and foreign start-ups and scaleups, Minister for the Environment, Energy and Enterprise Miriam Dalli and Malta Enterprise CEO Kurt Farrugia have announced. The festival is being held between the 13th and 14th of October, at Villa Bighi in Kalkara.

During the launching of the festival, Minister Miriam Dalli emphasised the government’s intention when dealing with this emerging economic segment.

“Malta is open for business. We are open for fresh, innovative, and forward-looking start-ups, who think outside the box and who are not only interested in financial profits as their endgame but who also seek to create a better quality of life. Start-ups are a force for progress and positive change, and we are here to support them,” stated Minister Dalli.

Kurt Farrugia referred to the two main areas that the event will be focusing on this year.

“In order to offer a deep dive into entrepreneurship we will dedicate the first morning to students – we would like them to experience the technology they can use and help improve but also get the right start-up tips and inspiration from relevant local and international speakers. Secondly – investor matchmaking – this year, we will be dedicating parts of the programme for start-ups to pitch to both local and foreign investors – some of which would be analysing the Malta start-up scene for the first time,” explained the CEO of Malta Enterprise.

Anyone attending the event will be able to participate in tech experiences and meet fellow innovators around the start-up route and market. One can also sit-in for inspirational talks and panels by speakers sharing experiences in growing companies in the US, Europe and beyond. It will be also act as the backdrop to the launch of novel government initiatives pertinent to start-ups.
