Police continue crackdown on illegal immigration

Police have continued their crackdqwn on illegal migrants with a series of checks in a number of places around Malta.

In several inspections carried out in Bugibba and San Paul il Baħar, the Police spoke to several people of different nationalities. The inspections were carried out on the streets, at bus stops, as well as in residences where several persons of foreign nationality were found to live, and the police checked whether they were in possession of valid documents to live in Malta.
Police arrested these people after it was found that they were living in Malta without the necessary documentation, with expired documentation, or in an irregular manner. The process for these people to no longer stay in thecountry will begin immediately. These operations are often part of a series of initiatives designed to combat irregular immigration as part of a strategy built on prevention, return, and relocation. Initiatives like this morning’s aim to send a clear message that one must observe the laws of the country, including in the way one should enter the country.
