New Sectoral Agreement between the Ministry of Health, the UĦM and the GWU, on hospital staff falling into the technical class

The Ministry of Health together with the United Workers ‘Union – Voice of the Workers and the General Workers’ Union have signed a new sectoral agreement for the next five years, for the technical workers of the Biomedical Engineering Department and the Engineering Department in public hospitals, including Technicians, Senior Technicians, Assistant Technical Officers, Technical Officers, Senior Technical Officers and Principal Technical Officers.

The agreement ensured, among other things, the assimilation of grades, career advancement, improved allowances and, above all, better hospital service.

The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health Joseph Chetchuti, Josef Bugeja and Kendrick Bondin on behalf of the GWU, and Josef Vella, Gian Paul Gauci and Analise Casha on behalf of the UĦM.

Present for the signing were Thomas Woods, from the Industrial Relations Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister, CEO of Mater Dei Hospital Celia Falzon, the Director in the Ministry of Health Noel Psaila, as well as the shop stewards of -workers from both signatory unions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne welcomed the agreement and thanked the workers and all those involved in the agreement.
