Imnarja 2022 activities announced

At a press conference, the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo announced the details of the activities that will be taking place in connection with the Imnarja festival in Buskett. , after a two-year absence due to the pandemic.

The Minister explained that these activities will be carried out over two days. This year, in addition to continuing to preserve the traditions of Imnarja, there will also be a modern trend with a greater emphasis on education, research and innovation. He reiterated that through these activities, the Government is continuing to implement the proposals from the Electoral Manifesto which will continue to give life to the agricultural activities and festivals in order to serve as a showcase for the local product.

The Imnarja festival will begin at 5.30pm on Tuesday 28th June with a parade from Victoria to Buskett. In Buskett, the public will be able to enjoy an exhibition of fruit and vegetables, as well as an exhibition of poultry, rabbits, dogs, horses and native animals. There will also be a full program of traditional riches.

On Wednesday, June 29, activities at Buskett will begin with a mass at 6:00 a.m., followed by the opening of the exhibition and the start of the sheep, goat and cattle competitions. The previous day’s exhibitions will also continue and the public will be able to taste traditional Maltese food. There will be an area for children to play and many other activities for all families.

“The Imnarja festival is very important in the Maltese cultural calendar. Undoubtedly, today it is considered to be the biggest agrarian festival in Malta in which we celebrate the zeal and the very valuable work of our farmers and villagers, ”concluded Minister Anton Refalo.
