As the first Green Fair in Malta organized for International World Day is being organized, the Minister for the Environment, Energy and Enterprise Miriam Dalli announced a total investment of € 735,000 for the Park of -Northwest, by various partners.
With the agreement signed between the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) and the Heritage Parks Foundation, the ERA will be investing € 375,000 in the North West Park for habitat restoration and afforestation. In addition to this agreement, a number of private entities have invested € 360,000 in maintenance work in the Barracks area within the same park. The total investment is € 735,000.
“The full and continuous regeneration of the Northwest Park is necessary not only to further beautify the Park but to ensure the ecological protection of this Park,” said Minister Dalli.
“Among the work that will be done is the restoration of the sand dunes in Għajn Tuffieħa, where rare and native species will be introduced as well as the regeneration of some areas. We will be planting trees and plants suitable for the word of these areas, while ensuring that these areas are kept clean, “added ERA Chief Executive Kevin Mercieca.
Heritage Parks Foundation President Martin Galea said: “The agreement we have signed with the ERA will be in a position to do more landscaping work in the North West Park. This is a good complement to the help we receive from private companies. These aids are necessary in order to carry out various projects to offer a wonderful experience to everyone who visits this Park “.
