Gozo formally applies to join the Island Games

During a meeting held at the Ministry for Gozo between Minister Clint Camilleri and a delegation from the International Island Games Association (IIGA), a formal application was made for Gozo to join this international sporting event.

During this meeting, Minister Clint Camilleri said that the largest sports investment that the island of Gozo has ever seen in the construction of an indoor Olympic swimming pool and a new sports pavilion that meets the credentials is currently being made in Gozo. of today’s times. Minister Camilleri explained how this is not the only investment that the Ministry for Gozo is currently working on, because in the near future it is intended to start the work of modernizing the horse track in Gozo. of Xħajma as well as in the shooting range of Żebbuġ. The Minister said that the ministry is committed to continue investing in sports in Gozo.

Minister Camilleri praised the work being done by the Gozo Sports Board, where those sports that had not been followed much before are being given the attention they deserve. He pointed out that through the aids and schemes intended for Gozitan athletes, many athletes are making a name for themselves and for Gozo on a national and international scale.

Minister Camilleri wished that the application of Gozo to join this sports community and eventually benefit Gozitan athletes would be welcomed by the IIGA Executive Committee.
