Hibernians reclaimed top spot in the BOV Premiership after hitting four past Floriana.
The clash between the two leading sides in the premiership had been expected to provide a close battle for the points but in a pulsating opening half hour Hibs surged in front with a three goal spree that left Floriana stunned and shell-shocked.
A fourth goal in the second half only served to cement Hibs supremecy and although Floriana did pull one back late in the game, it was nothing more than a token goal.
The goal rush started early when Jake Grech set up Jurgen Degabriele who slotted the ball past Georgi Kitanov.
The second came mid-way through the first half when Grech this time found Dunstan Vella who left Kitanov stranded.
Minutes later, Hibs went three up, Degabriele pouncing on a rebound from a Thaylor Aldama shot.
A Kone long goal kick found its way to Jake Grech who could only fire over the bar.
Floriana tried to up their game in the second half but a well drilled Hibs defence snuffed out any threat.
The fourth goal arrived just before the hour mark, Jake Grech this time finding the net at the second time of asking.
Floriana did mount a late flurry and were rewarded when Christian Rutjens headed past Kone.
A game that has promised so much turned into a one-sided affair that saw Hibernians go back on top, two points clear of Floriana.
