Online social security services strengthened and increaseed

The Ministry of Solidarity and Social Justice, the Family and the Rights of the Child has further strengthened the online services of the Department of Social Security, with the aim of further reducing red tape and strengthening service provided without much extra time and hauling from one office to another.

About 27,000 people a month make use of the ministry’s websites, and a person can submit an application for social security benefits or access personalized online services using their e-ID account. Last year more than 12,000 copies of the blue certificate of illness were submitted online.

As of February this year, 3,000 copies have already been submitted, showing that the use of online services is becoming more popular. It is also worth mentioning that more than 96.5% of the beneficiaries today are receiving social security payments in a bank account which continues to show the change that is taking place.

The details were announced by the Minister for Solidarity and Social Justice, Family and Children’s Rights Michael Falzon during a press conference, during which he spoke in detail about several innovative services being provided in order to list the way in which a number of online services have been provided.

“Over the last five years we have seen an unprecedented introduction of social measures, reaching thousands of families and pensioners. Benefits that always arrive on time and even ahead of time. These payments are always made as planned through an organized digital system, “said Minister Michael Falzon.

In the meantime, the department will implement a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system based on service.gov infrastructure. It will have the same functionality and features as a service.gov, but it will also have the functionality to allow department-specific processes to be established. The site to keep up to date on all social benefits and applications is https://socialsecurity.gov.mt/en/mysocialsecurity-en.
