The Handball Pavilion, which is currently under construction with an investment of € 2 million, will be completed by the middle of this year and will therefore be another project to be carried out not only for local athletes, but also to welcome contains international games.
“We have pledged our commitment to this sector and we are fulfilling it,” said Education and Sport Minister Clifton Grima when he visited the ongoing work on the pavilion. “This is another sports facility that will be on international specifications and therefore will be added to the range of facilities that we have completed to this level, or built on an international level,” said Minister Grima.
Work began in April last year and is progressing at a fast pace, so much so that the iron structure is currently being completed, while the panel covering this will be put in place this week. the structure and also put in place all the openings.
The pavilion, which is more than 1,000 square meters and has a space for a hundred spectators, will be the first complex in Malta to be built specifically for this type of sport. This facility is being built on an outdoor court that was part of the girls’ high school, known as Maria Assumpta. It will incorporate a full size handball court that can be used for both training and hosting local games.
