Investment of more than € 2 million in four projects in St. Vincent de Paul

The Minister for the Elderly and Active Aging Michael Farrugia has announced that an investment of € 2 million will be made in four different projects for the elderly in San Vincenz de Paul. This follows talks between the leadership of St. Vincent de Paul and the Welfare Committee.

At a news conference, Minister Farrugia said that these projects are a demonstration of the government’s plans and commitment for the future to be enjoyed by the elderly.

The first project consists of changing all the beds in San Vincenzo de Paul to electric beds and buying another medical device, with a total cost of around one million euros.

The second project involves the renovation of the last two old halls in St. Vincent de Paul. They will be enhanced by the overall layout of the halls, modernization of services, and energy efficient systems. This project will be completed within 18 months of its launch, and is expected to cost around € 800,000.

The third project is an agreement with the private sector to complete the waiting list for the dentures of the elderly, both those living in St. Vincent de Paul and those in old people’s homes, with an investment of € 100,000. .

The latest project will see Wi-Fi in St. Vincent de Paul spread to all areas, especially near nursing beds. This is after the success of a pilot project that took place last year where the Wi-Fi service was installed in a block of St. Vincent. The investment for this project is around € 200,000.

Minister Michael Farrugia thanked the members of the Welfare Committee for their contribution in the discussions between the Ministry for the Elderly and Active Aging and officials of St. Vincent.

“Ongoing work is leading to getting as much funding as possible, in addition to capital and EU funding, which translates into benefits for the elderly,” concluded Minister Michael Farrugia.
