A project with an investment of €3 million will raise the level of Matthew Micallef St John’s stadium to international standard, thus benefiting the entire sports community and the athletes.
“We are continuing to invest in this area, as reflected in this year’s budget, and this long-awaited project will continue to add to the projects we have carried out and the sports facilities we have improved. With this investment, the facilities in this complex will now be able to host both local and international competitions in an improved and modern environment “, stated the Minister for Education and Sport Clifton Grima.
“Not only will we carry out another project for the benefit of Maltese and Gozitan sportsmen, but this project will enable us as a country to be able to attract sports tourism”, said Minister Grima. This will be possible because the project will allow the facilities to be used in all types of weather. The project will also see to it that the facilities are accessible to every athlete. “With this project, Marsa will now have four world-class sports facilities,” continued Minister Grima.
