The Ministry for Solidarity and Social Justice, the Family and the Rights of the Child has sealed another social agreement with the Suret il-Bniedem Foundation to enable it to continue operating at Leopoldo House. This residence welcomes homeless men for various reasons and for them not only serves as a shelter and a place to eat every day, but also helps them to reintegrate into society.
These details were announced at a news conference by Minister Michael Falzon who reiterated the government’s commitment to continue assisting organizations that help vulnerable people. This year’s financial allocation amounted to € 12 million, with a total of 34 agreements with 25 separate NGOs. This is the largest financial allocation of all time for these social agreements.
The agreement with Dar Leopoldo ensures the service of 18 beds in this semi-independent living residence, with financing amounting to € 650,430 over the next 3 years.
“The ultimate goal of all this is to enhance the quality of life while keeping the risk of poverty and social exclusion as far away as possible. Despite all this, there are still situations that require specific help from those who have not been able to benefit in any way. This is where the role of the government comes in and to give the necessary support and everything necessary to such foundations “, concluded Minister Michael Falzon.
