Office of PM says Opposition were incorrect when saying government had not acted on public inquiry recommendations

The Leader of the Opposition knew that he was wrong when he said that the government had done nothing on the recommendations of the public inquiry.

The Office of the Prime Minister has consulted with the bodies involved, including academics and journalists, as well as international institutions, to be in a position to appoint a committee of experts as suggested by the public inquiry itself. Its members held a wide consultation. There is no doubt that the Leader of the Opposition is well aware of some of these consultations.

A number of bills designed to protect journalists at the forefront were also presented at some of these meetings.

The Office of the Prime Minister remains determined that the fruits of this consultation will now announce the next steps in the coming days as agreed in the consultation.
