Follow-up Reports 2021 (Vol 2) issued by the National Audit Office

Auditor General Charles Deguara presented to Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia, the second volume of follow-up audits report for 2021, comprising the results of five follow-up audit reports relating to audits conducted over the past few years.

As in the first volume of follow-up audits for 2021, the objectives of these audits were to follow up the extent of implementation of the main recommendations that had been made in the original audit reports.

An analysis on the degree of implementation of this Office’s recommendations was undertaken on the following past IT and Performance audits:

Follow-up Reports by the Information Technology Section

·      The use of IT systems to identify the skills and professional development within the Public Service

·      Cyber Security across Government Entities

Follow-up Reports by the Performance Audit Section

·      A Strategic Overview on the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture’s Inspectorate Function

·      A Review on the Contract for Mount Carmel Hospital’s Outsourced Clerical Services

·      The designation and effective management of protected areas within Maltese waters

NAO notes that, for the audits included in this report, 90% of our recommendations were either implemented, in part or in full or were in the process of being implemented by the ministries and entities concerned.  On the other hand, 10% of the recommendations were not implemented or little progress was made.

The report may be accessed through the NAO website: www.nao.gov.mt, as well as on the NAO Facebook page www.facebook.com/NAOMalta.
