122 New nurses and 14 new midwives

The public health service has been further strengthened with the recruitment of 122 nurses and 14 midwives this year. Of the 122 new nurses, 114 are young people who have just graduated from the University of Malta as well as the University of Northumbria.

During a visit to some of these new nurses at Mater Dei Hospital, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne recalled that the most important resource for excellent health service is the human resource. He stressed that the recruitment of these dozens of new professionals will enable health authorities to provide more services to patients, increase operations and increase the capacity of Mater Dei Hospital wards to b ‘thus the care of Maltese and Gozitans will continue to be provided at a level of excellence.

The Deputy Prime Minister wished them every success in this career which requires a great vocation and encouraged them to continue to specialize in different fields.
