Police smash international drug ring

Police arrested three men following the discovery of around five kilos of what they believe to be cocaine with a street value of almost €600,000.

The arrests come after several weeks of investigations and observations on members of an international drug trafficking ring, the Police from the Anti-Drug Squad

The first arrest took place on Saturday, when a 20-year-old Spaniard was arrested at the International Airport upon arrival from Madrid. She was found in possession of a substance believed to be cocaine.

Work continued overnight between Saturday and Sunday and after observations on a 30-year-old year man from Venezuela, who had just arrived in Malta from Madrid as well, was followed to an apartment in Msida and was arrested.


Police were watching a man at a hotel in St Julian’s and arrested him. The suspect, a 35 year-old Spanish national was found in possession on another quantity of what they believe to be cocaine.
