Killer police officer Wayne Couzens has been given a whole-life sentence for the murder of Sarah Everard, whose death sparked outrage and protests over the rates of violence against women.
The judge at his sentencing turned down a plea from Couzens’ defence barrister that the seriousness of his crimes were “dreadful” but did not merit a full-life term.
It means Couzens will go to prison until he dies with no chance of parole.
Couzens had falsely arrested Miss Everard on March 3rd, 2021, for breaching covid restrictions, a court heard, before putting her in his car and then raping and killing her.
