A 21-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man have been arrested and will be charged with destroying a historic stone cross in Mellieha, the police said.
The upper part of the 18th century cross, known as Is-Salib tal-Pellegrini, was smashed to pieces.
Officers from Qawra and the Major Crimes Section tracked down the British couple.
They are expected to appear in court today.
