Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg inaugurated the Public Works Department project on the Żebbuġ Scouts Group premises.
Minister Ian Borg said that, “Such projects are happening because we have a Public Works Department that carries out important work across the whole country which, whilst happening on a smaller scale in comparison to capital projects, we believe that it makes a great difference in people’s lives. Such projects make us proud because through them we are providing better and new facilities for our communities. Here, we will witness the children, leaders and all participants of this organisation benefitting from a more accessible and secure building. We are committed to making a positive difference for a better quality of life for all Maltese and Gozitan people,” said Minister Ian Borg.
Works carried out consisted of the replacement of a concrete ceiling which was in a dangerous state, and a precast ceiling was placed instead. Waterproofing membrane and concrete works were also carried out. The Public Works Department also carried out plastering work on the inside, painting and the restoration of a two-sided wall which included cleaning, opening and grouting with materials that are compatible with the stone.
