Local media is reporting that the Financial Action Task Force, the FATF, has voted to put Malta on a so-called “grey list”.
The vote will be a major blow to the government which has been working tirelessly to upgrade and improve Malta’s anti-corruption and money laundering issues, efforts recognised by a positive result from the European agency, Moneyval.
Thus far there has been no official statement from the government.
