The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Animal Rights Anton Refalo has launched a promotion and awareness campaign related to the traditional and folk festival of Imnarja. Through the campaign ‘The Imnarja with a Difference – The Feast that Lights up Tradition’ we will keep alive this feast so loved by the Maltese and the Gozitans.
Minister Anton Refalo said that the Imnarja festival is very important in the Maltese cultural calendar and without a doubt today it is considered to be the biggest agrarian festival in our country and in which as a people we must unite and celebrate together zeal and the valuable work of Maltese and Gozitan farmers and villagers as well as the agricultural sector and above all the local product.
The minister spoke about the first exhibition related to Imnarja in Buskett which was held in 1854, where the exhibition of livestock and poultry, of instruments and tools that were used primarily in agriculture, also began.
Due to the pandemic, for the second year in a row the Imnarja festival was not possible to be held as an activity as we are used to enjoying in the Buskett gardens. So, I come up with ideas, and to see them flush it out, it’s really fun. The campaign involves short videos that will be shown on television as well as on social media, talk shows as well as an informative feature about all the aspects that we find in this national holiday.
