Association of Catering Establishments with an additional voucher for anyone who spends the government voucher in their restaurants

The Association of Catering Establishments (ACE) is introducing an initiative through which it will offer an additional voucher to the same customers who choose to spend the voucher at restaurants that are members of the same association.

A person who spends a € 15.00 voucher in a particular restaurant will be given another € 15.00 from the same restaurant to use on the same holding.

This scheme has been introduced by restaurants that want to benefit from the impact of the second round of vouchers that has come out in government in recent days as part of the economic regeneration of our country.

These details were announced at a news conference by the Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo together with the Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri in the presence of the Secretary of the Association of Tourism and Consumer Affairs. Catering establishments Matthew Pace.

The Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection Clayton Bartolo said that this initiative taken by the Association of Catering Establishments is a model of what the future of tourism in our country will be.

“We don’t want the tourist to come to Malta once, but as long as the experience on every level is a positive one to come here again. This line of thinking also applies to the domestic tourist. The quality of the product we offer as Maltese and Gozitans must be the order of the day “, continued Minister Clayton Bartolo.

He stressed that this initiative is a clear example of a new mentality in the hospitality sector.

Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri welcomed this initiative which in his words fully complements the ultimate purpose of the government’s € 100 vouchers initiative which is incentivising Maltese and Gozitan people and foreign residents who live in our country in order to incentivize businesses, while enjoying our country.

“Your initiative shows how much businesses have understood our message as a government that has contributed and will be an important partner in the economic regeneration of our country. The competition to start using vouchers has been fierce as 118,000 people have their vouchers on their smartphones which means they have been able to use the vouchers since June 7. “

At the same time, those who do not download them digitally will be receiving them by registered mail, said Minister Schembri.

Silvio Schembri recalled that the first scheme had a multiple effect that generated around € 90 million in the economy while safeguarding around 1,900 jobs.

“I encourage more businesses to take similar initiatives while being free to make use of the material available to them on the MIMCOL site, which will be innovative to promote these initiatives and will be an integral part of our country’s economic recovery. “, Concluded Minister Schembri.

Meanwhile, Matthew Pace stressed on how the Association of Catering Establishments recognizes the positive economic impact that vouchers have left in 2020.

“The association is introducing this initiative as a gratitude to the domestic tourist who has not stopped supporting the catering sector during the pandemic,” concluded Mr Pace.
