Opposition leader Bernard Grech said the Nationalist Party would not support a motion put forward by Independent MP Marlene Farrugia calling for abortion to longer be classed as illegal.
Grech said, “The Nationalist Party believes in the most absolute way in life from conception to death, and therefore can never be in favor of decriminalizing abortion”.
Under current laws abortion carries a three year jail sentence.
