The Victim Support Agency (Victim Support Agency) is set up

Minister for Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri and Dr Lydia Abela launch the Victim Support Agency

Minister for Interior, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri announced the establishment of the Victim Support Agency as announced in the government’s election manifesto.

One of the aims of this agency is to bring together services that are already provided by entities that are part of this ministry under one roof and to further add to and strengthen them.

Minister Byron Camilleri explained that for many years victims of crime felt forgotten as they were unaware of their procedures and rights. With the establishment of this agency, victims will be given the priority they deserve to protect them in the best possible way. “It is our duty to ensure that we do not miss the victim and that a victim is not a victim twice. We need to give the victim all the necessary support after what he or she has suffered. I am convinced that the Agency will make the difference they have been waiting for so long “, said Minister Camilleri.

The minister explained that this agency must work closely with non-governmental organizations and other government agencies that already offer important services.
