WasteServ will continue strengthening its commitment to ensure the health and safety of its employees with the launch of a new Employee Support Programme.
This was announced by Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning Aaron Farrugia, who explained that by collaborating with Caritas Malta, WasteServ will be offering its employees free, confidential counselling and a specialist information service.
WasteServ employs around eight hundred workers coming from different social strata, and it felt it necessary to set up a new section within the company offering support to those workers who are facing challenges in their work or on a personal level.
The agreement, which was signed by WasteServ CEO Richard Bilocca and Director of Caritas Malta Anthony Gatt, aims to develop a positive attitude towards the mental wellbeing of all WasteServ employees.
Minister Farrugia said that these are people who deliver a vital service not only to WasteServ, but to our country, and thus it is important that we safeguard their health, safety and wellbeing. He said that this past year has been very challenging for everyone and so it is important that we are proactive and provide emotional and practical support to our employees.
WasteServ Chairperson Prof Frank Bezzina explained how these employees are the backbone of this company and that, through this initiative, WasteServ will be providing specialised and professional help to all employees who for one reason or another are going through personal, social, family or workplace challenges.
This initiative is part of several other employee initiatives all aimed at supporting and empowering WasteServ employees, such as a new training and professional development platform, which was launched last year.
